The history of the declining Transformers G1 series didn't stop with Transformers Season 3 and its failed attempt at a fourth season. Rebirth was later disregarded with a hanging finale (which was a disappointment) and then came the rather questionable Transformers: Headmasters series. I may like Super Sentai over Power Rangers (and my dislike is now more obvious) but it doesn't mean I won't point out some of Toei's mistakes past and present. The Transformers: Headmasters series is even worse than Season 3. There was Transformers: Masterforce which for me is the WORST of the Japanese Transformers series. They did have Headmasters. But we should never forget the history that Transformers has with both Hasbro and Takara! Strangely, Toei Animation also attempted to kick off a new series but didn't learn anything from Rebirth. Transformers Zone OVA just deserved to be sacked and discontinued. Did the same thing happen to why Kamen Rider ZX never became a TV series?
What would be interesting is that if you watched the Japanese Transformers under Toei Animation are the namings. They called the Autobots as Cybertrons and the Decepticons as Destrons. Kamen Rider V3's villain group was also known as Destrons and the Kamen Rider franchise is under Toei too. I guess it's only normal for Toei to call the Decepticons as Destrons. Destron was probably a pun on the word destroy itself. Not to mention, Toei did have some Transformers references in Super Sentai too much like the vehicles or animals that transformed into humanoid form for a good amount of the franchise.
I guess that's why Toei approved of Hasbro acquiring the Power Rangers franchise rights from Saban due to its history with Hasbro.
