Just Hard-Driven STUPIDITY: Filipino Congress Deletes Rights for Filipinos to Bring Music, Movies and Books From Abroad?!
Here's a fact I'd like to share:
Everyday, many Filipinos arrive in Manila, bringing back with them books as well as DVDs and CDs of music and movies they bought in other countries for their personal use.
They can do this without fear of being questioned because it’s a right specifically granted “to persons or families arriving from foreign countries” under Section 190 of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293.
What these Filipinos probably do not know is Congress has just passed a law erasing this right. The law — a consolidated measure amending RA 8293, was sent to MalacaƱang Palace on January 29, 2013 and just needs the signature of President Benigno Aquino III to become effective.
Well all I can say is this WTF? This is another move for pseudo-nationalism. I could understand if piracy laws are established to PROTECT the artists, I don't support Jailbreaking the Apple devices, I believe people SHOULD pay at least one dollar or 70 cents per music download to protect the publishers' income BUT this law is UTTERLY RIDICULOUS. So let's just say if Filipinos brought home LEGITIMATE not PIRATED DVDs and CDs from abroad. So let's put this example...
Let's just say that a Filipino fan goes to Japan to buy Super Sentai DVD then he brings it in. He even has a receipt to prove it's not bootlegged! Is that illegal? Or let's just say a Filipino-Chinese went to Hong Kong to buy an ORIGINAL CD of his favorite Chinese artist. Is it illegal? Receipts and proof of authentication?! That's not even a violation of the piracy law! To arrest a man for simply bringing in ORIGINAL DVD from Japan is STUPID. I guess this is an entire conspiracy by the government to sissify the people with crap stuff like "Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin" and I don't know what's in that LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG list of stupid shows will follow. Also, this will affect the Filipino-Chinese market who are die hard with their Chinese films who go abroad to purchase legitimate purchases! Those Chinese dramas of fairies and mermaids are WAAAAAY better than the Filipino dramas in this sense- one has heroines who aren't Cinderellas, the other makes the women weaker.
And what's that in return? So I guess Filipinos will become RETARDED with all they view on TV are sloppy TV dramas that teach Cinderella mentality, boy chasing, dreaming of an American partner and a lot of pseudo-nationalistic values. So Filipinos will be endured to watch fag drama, more fag drama and I guess the networks with their stupidity will just show them non-stop of the decade of American superiority mentality? Puh-lease. Either Filipinos fight for their freedom or LOSE IT but too bad, a lot of Filipinos are already stuck with the values of being late, lack of backbone and also a lot of stupidity due to values. And looks like this is it...
Hmmm Miriam Defensor Santiago may be hot-headed BUT I can sympathize with her like how she opposed that cybercrime law. Now I hope this tiger woman will chew off the heads of those idiots in the congress who really want to sissify the Philippines! Miriam's angry with all the insincere apologies. I may not like her weak points but I'd say she's got more guts to admit her mistakes than most people or her decision not to lock up Aguirre for irritating her (well she did go over the boat!) was something.
Now I guess it's time for a second round BLACK PROTEST!
