Self-Indulgence Mucks Up My Writing

I had my thoughts on Fantasy Leader's golden nuggets or glittering gems whatever you may want to call them, pointing out that I lack the self-discipline of writing.  He had mentioned that Toshiki Inoue got ruined later by self-indulgence while being disciplined got Naruhisa Arakawa to improve.  I wonder what the problem of Yasuko Kobayashi is too.  I had my thoughts on self-indulgence to start with... that is excessive or unrestrained gratifications of one's own appetites, desires or whims evidenced by these self-indulgences and how I put them into writing...

I'd probably start on the use of gorgeous women and their roles I give them.  Pretty much my weakness as I tend to mistreat them a lot in my writing compared to the ugly characters who play the safer roles or die easy deaths.  I tend to give a lot of focus on female characters or even trap them in love triangles, unrequited love, villainous crush, etc. to give them emphasis on plots.  For example in Super Sentai vs. Nickelodeon, Addie gets stuck in a dodecahedron with Mako for Takeru (the center love triangle) while Wesley (who's me in the story) tends to like every hot chick.  I pretty much like mixing drama and comedy hence the birth of the Addie/Mako/Takeru conflict as the center of sub-plots (and in extension it's also a Takeru/Wesley/Addie conflict and a Wesley/Joe/Tori conflict).  Not to mention, I do like a degree of perversity in my stories and have to be careful not to violate the ratings system.  Example of that was when Spike attempted to sell porn pictures of Kimberly, Nanami, Ranru, Jasmine, Sakura and Mako in Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers.

Extreme favoritism.  Sad but true but I am very much prone to extreme favoritism like I'll confess I lost interest in Super Sentai past Timeranger or two, with Kamen Rider Heisi era, took me a LONG time to come out of that shell until I saw Den-O which wasn't bad for me.  I took some interest with Heisi era during Dekaranger for Jasmine and later took a stupid interest in Abaranger for Ranru which brings all the way back to the first point.  Like I've noticed I tend to overfocus my favorite characters and everybody else gets underdeveloped for that reason.

Attempting to do suspense without knowing much on how to do it.  Looks like I have a LONG way to go with suspense.  Fortunately I've watched some stuff about Agito.  In my own way though, in Super Sentai vs. Nickelodeon both the heroes of both worlds are still unaware of how the cult operates or who leads it.  In fact, even the Shinkengers aren't aware of Doukoku's revival.

A love for things denser and wackier.  I had my fun time watching Kamen Rider Kiva's rather messed up but entertaining way of doing things from start to end, most of the show doesn't really makes sense yet it still entertains me.  So I ended up turning my intended lighter and softer to denser and wackier which can result to overdone gags like Mako's failed cooking or it could be compared to Spongebob's frequently failing his boating exam.  That lesson was learned in Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers.  The mistake was later learned and n resolved in Super Sentai vs. Nickelodeon- Mako is learning better in cooking, Spongebob passes his driving exam (seriously Stephen Hillenburg that joke is no longer funny!) and my love for crazy humor made me write Super Sentai vs. Nickelodeon and two, Kamen Rider Kiva vs. Danny Phantom.

Evil for evil's sake.  My problem with Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers was that Radiguet's gathering of villains was just like as if, "Oh it's my dream to be evil." in other words, he's just evil for evil's sake and the villains all agree to join the new version of the United Alliance of Evil for that.  Kind of reminds me of Lord Zedd seldom was just evil for evil's sake and so was that PR in Space coming together of the past villains.  It tends to ruin my writing not to mention in my fic, Radiguet wants to wipe out the Super Sentai because they stand in the way of his being evil, ignoring that Radiguet is a self-righteous villain.
