It's been sometime since I decided to write something "meaty". Well, not exactly but I revisited my old post discussing the problem of the comic book timeline . I remember blindly following comics and I realized one thing -- having a floating timeline SINCE THE SILVER AGE is a real sunk cost. It's because it fails to account for the following things: Eras change a lot. The Golden Age (1938 – 1956), the Silver Age (1956 – 1970), the Bronze Age (1970 – 1985), and the Modern Age (1970 – 1985, social realism is rising) DEMAND different storytelling methods. That means the era that demanded for one-dimensional hate sinks. Another era will demand for complicated villains. Many times, backstories just don't match! People are destined to DIE SOMEDAY . It's known that I tend to watch shows for the pretty girls. I would find myself asking, "Am I watching something for the plot or the pretty girl?" That question would often nag my head -- A LOT! I felt like rambling this because of the upcoming Miss Universe pageant. It's no secret that I've admired the beauty of Olivia Jordan and Catriona M. Gray. Between Super Sentai and Power Rangers It's no secret that I watched Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers as a child. It wasn't just because it was one of the cool things to do in the 1990s. More is less and less is more? It seems to be the new issue with doing posts. I remembered reading through the now defunct Orends Range using Blogspot where he did some rather interesting episode reviews of retro Super Sentai -- sadly most of them didn't reach the last episode for Bioman and Maskman. He did a good job with Zyuranger. The other blog I'm trying to get inspiration from is Sentai Bandicoot where his Gingaman posts are well -- minimalist in some way. So how do I want to do my episode reviews and updates? I thought about doing a mix of both whenever I feel like it. there's also the problem of having too many pictures -- it kills the loading time. Having a few pictures can be helpful and it can add flavor. It's all about trying to achieve some balance in doing them, right? IMHO, I thought that the Lupin vs. Pat ones can do one image per paragraph. On the other hand, updates related to Kamen Rider Build or the latest K-Drama can do with less images. The...

I wanted to give a thought about why I'm hating a lot of comic book companies now. I used to like Marvel a lot but I hate it now. I used to like DC a lot but I hate it now. Perhaps the problem lies with the use of comic book time where stories that started in very old school eras (instead of having been hit with the reset button every how many years) are still continued today. Heck, I'm too upset at stuff like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver got a complete rewrite without resetting the Marvel Universe or how comics in general tend to suddenly written unconventional plot twists to make a new story. So what's the point? I think the problem with characters that just grow old when it's convenient to the writer is the amount of garbage space they receive. It's just like junk files in your desktop or mobile devices but maybe only worse. But it doesn't only limit itself to comics -- you can see it in cartoons. In fiction, there's seldom the need to suspend disbelief especially if it's a cartoony show like how in Shinkenger, I can't help but laugh at the stupidity of the Gedoushu who fell for the obviously fake disguises or how Mako's bad cooking is so exaggeratingly horrible it knocked Takeru out.  Now I thought of how Mako in my fics tends to be a disaster magnet while she's able to cope up with them but she had one damsel-in-distress moment with a group of other girls forced to be part of some strip club, worse, she attracted the most number of Alienizers! Now she's gotten into a real stupid scenario that requires you to suspend disbelief beyond measure!  This was in Super Sentai x Nickelodeon: The Delusional Crossover called " Delusional Bootleg ".  Now to really look at what I'd call purposely done stupidity which she turns the tables in the end.  Suspension of disbelief was really required in that story considering that it's written with cart...

Vengeance plots do add some plot in stories.  For some reason, I do have an obsession with revenge in stories.  Now for some ways vengeance is written... Heroes can be blinded with revenge.  For example, Conan himself was blinded by ideals of revenge when in the 1982 he seeks out the movie version of Thulsa Doom and in 2011, he seeks out Khalar Zym.  Reasons for revenge usually sound noble like avenging the death of a best friend, a parent, a comrade, etc. until they realize if they carry out their plans of revenge, it makes them the same level as the villain and they are harming those they care about.  They say, "I won't take revenge, I won't stoop down to your level." type of talk.   Count Egobossler in Gatchaman Fighter unlike his Jetman counterpart Radiguet had reasons for going insane.  Some villains become villains because of their obsession with revenge.  Egobossler was once known as Erun who was the illegitimate son of a count, ...

If adults can be cruel, so can children.  Now here's what I thought... There's that annoying Veruca Salt who might remind Rugrats fans of Angelica Pickles when she was still a toddler.  Just my thought, children can be so cruel to younger children or even to each other.  Talk about the stuck-up rich classmate of yours who is always bullying everybody around because of their status.  Sad but true, that really happens! Though the kids don't have to be wealthy to be snotty... some kids can have less but still be snotty when their parents don't raise them well.  Just think of Santa Claus: The Movie where poor Joe (and in extension Cornelia) was bullied by kids when Santa Claus' presents broke down that year due to the extreme carelessness of Patch.  I just thought that I felt sorry for Joe and Cornelia in the film even if they weren't real characters. It's always been my guilty pleasure of not letting characters improve but I just thought that it's as bad as this... Spongebob never passing his boating exam.  To be honest, he could snap anytime if he were a real person. Which I just remembered about this kind of constructive criticism which went, "Please let your characters improve.  Letting them fall all over again just for the sake of laughs is silly and unnecessary."  That is, no matter how funny errors are, but character development is always appreciated.  I mean, for example workers do improve overtime when they are given the same set of tasks, can improve overtime until they grow too old for that job.  Pretty much, people bad with Mathematics if they struggle may not become masters of it, but hey they can still improve!

Well here's reality that must be admitted- I discovered I still like Spongebob but the refusal to cancel the show or maybe at least to give character improvement has made the show run dry.  Here are a few examples... Characters are granted no improvement, only getting worse.  In fact, I'll confess I'm starting to find post-movie Spongebob to be really annoying with their no character development side of the writers.  I can still watch old Spongebob, I can still wear a Spongebob T-shirt or enjoy the movie but Spongebob has gotten into no improvement at all zone which is bad for the character.  I mean, Spongebob still can't drive his boat, Squidward hasn't gotten any better, Patrick is still too stupid to be alive and maybe I'll just have to name Mr. Krabs and Plankton aren't getting any better.  Nothing really works and the post-movie series just negates every development that the movie presented and to the point, some scenes aren't funny like when Sq...

Well time travel is something I believe that can't be done in real life, not everything can be accomplished by real life science and technology.  Now moving on with time travel in fiction writing... we know some bit of H.G. Wells who wrote the novel "The Time Machine" where the person went into the future.  There are also incidents of going back to the past as well. Back to the Future was one of those time travel fiction I liked as a child.  In this one, they visited various eras and the cartoon series was made based on the three movies (non-canon to each other).  The whole premise was going back to the past to visit the eras meeting various ancestors and descendants. There was the Time Squad cartoon where these people lived in a distant future where the timeline was frequently interrupted for some reason and they had to go back and correct time like turn Edgar Allan Poe back to being dark, turning Atilla the Hun back to being a conqueror and all that.  A ...

It just becomes a seed of wisdom to get properly criticized that I shouldn't write while I'm drunk.  Trust me, it was a recipe for disaster because my first fan fic at Fiction.net is really infamous for all the errors in it.  It was a product of emotional drunken behavior and some liquor.  So I don't really drink sake or something except during special occasions but my tolerance to alcohol can be very low causing me to use "hic" a lot during the writing process.  That episode in Akibaranger season one namely the third episode featured why you should NEVER write while you're drunk.  Then again, Fiveman's Remi also got drunk.  The late Gai Yuki is a moderate drinker, he never gets drunk at all.  But that picture of Maaya Uchida and the bottle of sake, I'd say she'll make me drunk faster than those bottles of sake proving there are other things that get me drunk aside from liquor and talk about being emotionally drunk which is still a recipe for disa...

Well all the purists may roar all they want but here's my post.  Ha ha.  Well here's just my thoughts on how Power Rangers has affected me as a writer.  Here are they... and mostly I find them positive but I'll need more self-discipline to get the concepts' execution done better. While I like Super Sentai better than Power Rangers but the series in itself has taught me some cool concepts to use like multiracial interactions.  Super Sentai does have it but it's pretty scarce.  So yeah, there's always a good side and bad side to both Power Rangers and its parent Super Sentai. Well I just had the courage to do some East/West crossovers.  Okay I'll admit I've had a lot of mistakes with Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers yet it doesn't mean I'm giving up on East/West crossovers.  Not that like it never happened with Marvel vs. Capcom series but I was just had those "canon nervousness" when it came to my ideas.  Power Rangers went from Sab...

After some rather unimpressive failures with fan fic writing with OOC and nonsense, I thought it can be time to do some careful research and writing styles.  Yup, there's some failure to start with and of course, learning from these failures is important.  I've gotten into the mistake of hatred, out of characterization, canon rape, etc. now I just need to redefine myself and of course, being more careful while not writing if not in the right mind.  Too bad I'm on on mental "crack" again with all those obsession over girls I'll never have. =P Love dodecahedrons- A triangle is too common, why stop there?  Being a lover of romance stories, I love having chaotic romance events but I have to be careful not to overdo it.  In this one are also hopeless suitors as part of the whole mess.  However no incest, yaoi, yuri, man x machine, pedophilia, etc. ever involved since I personally don't like writing them. After having the rather uncontrollable fic SS vs. PR (which I won't delete for the sake of the favorites I've got) but I had a thought I need to define my writing style.  So maybe I could really at least know what I need... now for my dodecahedron. Yup I am a fan of love dodecahedron which I love to do fan pairings though I have to be careful not to overdo it.  While love triangles between men can be too tragic, I like to do the one between women or two, a series of villainous crushes.  Now for what's in it: Multiracial pairings and attractions- though in my case I love to utilize the Japanese/Chinese guy/girl with a white partner.  So pretty much I like the idea of pairing Japanese/Chinese guy with white girl the most. Love triangles.  Well but I thought I might move on to focusing more on two girls for one guy than the usual.  In fact, I thought it could be weird if while the two girls are fighting, they don't realize that the guy wants them both...

For one, I may want to give a shot on "darker and edgier" but I figured out I prefer "lighter and softer" and at a guilt trip "denser and wackier". Well maybe I really freaking hated how Power Rangers Samurai was done and its horrid nature is almost as bad as Operation Overdork, maybe worse but here's one thing worth saying- Power Rangers does still inspire my writings good or bad.  Well Super Sentai is back on Nickelodeon and while I did do a Sentai/PR crossover which was my first shot as a novice (and had done a lot of errors which I hope I won't hit with future stories), I would really say Power Rangers on Nickelodeon has given me absurd ideas.  Sideline I'd rather watch Power Rangers Samurai than freaking Hannah Montana.  For a few confessions, most post-Zordon arc rangers except during Kalish era and PR Samurai for me are all still worth rewatching. Well yeah, for one Power Rangers on Nickelodeon made me think that "Wah I should attempt to crossover Japanese superheroes with American originals from Nickelodeon."  I dunno why I never had that with Disney maybe because I was too angry with Hannah Monta...
