Paul Eugene's Power Jog Challenge

I remember the time I used a treadmill to try and lose weight. Then I remembered the time the treadmill needed maintenance. Then I discovered the use of exercise to reach a certain amount of steps on a pedometer. One of them is Paul Eugene's jog challenge which can range from half an hour to an hour and a few minutes. Using workout mode in a pedometer can help one see the intense power of these workouts.  I think one of the best things this has done is to be more flexible than the treadmill. The treadmill is fun and can be useful for softer exercises. However, on days I'm feeling well and free, this workout does manage to work wonders. I would recommend doing this power jog during one's free time maybe at least once a week (for starters) to try and remain healthy during this pandemic.

More Exercise, Better Gaming?

I was thinking about the days when I spent too much time playing the first Playstation we had to the point my grades dropped badly. I would think about how much I wanted to spend more time playing video games than anything else. One of the biggest reasons perhaps my grades were so bad was my sedentary lifestyle back in high school -- the demotivated, impatient guy who wants instant solutions instead of building up greatness. The Great Wall of China didn't build itself in one day. The Rice Terraces of Banaue never built itself in one day. Great things take time. The same goes for gaming.  The time for cheat codes finally died. Back then, I was into a lot of cheat codes such as how I finished Resident Evil 3 (Hard Mode) with a Gameshark Lite. It means it was an achievement-oriented time. I was already on the quest to lose weight. I got myself a pedometer. Now, it was time to try and reach 6,000 steps a day or more. It was really that time when I decided to spend more time exer...

I've Got An Addiction To Weight Loss Stories Now

I admit I used to have a sedentary lifestyle. There was no motivation for it until I decided to get a basic Mi-Band. Yes, the Mi-Band is a pedometer that would be used to track one's steps. However, steps isn't exactly the most effective measure in contrast to doing cardio exercises. If there's one thing I'm addicted to right now -- it's all about weight loss stories. Some of them are just incredible such as the story of somebody who actually lost that much weight. Imagine a guy weighing hundreds of pounds have even more determination than their body fat to get rid of it. I remembered having a double chin and a bloated stomach. I had these problems with eating too much. The pedometer started with a minimum of 6,000 steps. The first thing that I started with was walking whenever possible. I didn't have a problem with eating vegetables. I love vegetables while I also love meat. I would go only for lean meat as much as possible. I would order my tea and coffee with...

Brisk Walking VS. Dancing To Get 10,000 Steps

I was thinking about several alternatives to lose weight. Some say to walk 10,000 steps casually though there's also the suggestion to burn THAT MUCH calories. I was thinking about how to get the steps. 10,000 steps is said to be 200+ calories - that's if we don't consider the heart rate. So, I decided to do 10,000 steps in two ways - casual walking in a peaceful subdivision vs. dancing your way. I find casual walking to be rather relaxing and at your own pace. In fact, I prefer casual brisk walking to be more fun and calorie burning than treadmill. An hour on the treadmill usually burns 200+ calories while brisk walking for an hour can burn 300+ calories.  What about dancing your way to 10,000 steps? Dancing makes you move your arms and legs. It requires lots of effort to get hand and eye coordination practiced. I don't think you need to be good at dancing to enjoy it and reap its benefits. You just need to diligently practice and do it without thinking about becomin...

Doing Bollywood Cardio Exercises

Here's one fitness drive I tried a few weeks ago. I'm a fan of Indian food but I really don't like their movies. Ironic, I dislike the movies while liking their soundtrack. The Bollywood-style cardio is really that hard to pull off. I tried this one and found myself with a higher heart rate (160-180 bpm) trying to pull these dance moves. I found myself really pounding and my step count didn't really increase much. Maybe, walking 10,000 steps isn't such a magic number in contrast to doing cardio? Then again why not combine both and see better results? Those attempting to do Bollywood cardio may want to try the beginner's steps first. Rahul's workout did cause me some minor aches after doing it. I had to rest for a while and proceeded to simple slow exercises to get my step count for the day to at least 7,000 steps to 8,000 steps. Beginner's Bollywood cardio could at least get you to feel the beat before going to advanced.

Fitness Instructor Joanna Soh

Is the pandemic really making you fat? Well, it doesn't have to be. I was thinking about how having a Mi-Band (though mine is not the latest model yet) is helpful in monitoring the calories burned. One fitness instructor you might want to check out is Joanna Soh - a Malaysian-Chinese female fitness instructor. I usually prefer to work with a male instructor (and having women work with female instructors) but I don't see any reason why a female instructor can't do a co-ed calorie burn. Some men have handled co-ed classes so I don't see any reason why a woman can't handle a co-ed class.  I was thinking about Joanna's 3KM fat-burning indoor walk. What I experienced is that it didn't give me my desired number of steps (6K to 8K) BUT I did sure burn nearly 400 calories on my first try of this workout. It's much more calories burned than doing the treadmill or regular walking routine. Sure, hiking around several levels of elevation can burn calories but so far...

A Fun Vegetable Joke Indeed!

As somebody who likes having some vegetables, I do find this very funny. Credits to whoever made this one. It's pretty funny on how we can make a fun of vegetables.

Trying to Understand the Gluten Debate

Personally I am not on a gluten free diet. Gluten is found in wheat and pasta. Some people now advocate the gluten free diet and that gluten is the diet villain. But what other people could be ignoring is that gluten is in wheat itself... and if it's really the diet villain, why do Buddhist monks usually have longer lives? One might not have considered the fact that some bread products today are either too refined thus taking away important nutrients or the preservatives may have caused an adverse reaction to people who are supposedly not gluten sensitive. What people are ignoring is that gluten sensitivity is just like any form of food allergy. Those intolerant to other types of seafood must avoid, those who aren't allergic to clams and shrimp can eat them. Those with lactose intolerance should avoid milk but those who aren't, can take in milk. It's the same with gluten. Also gluten and milk aren't the biggest culprits to digestion problems. Sometimes a poor d...

Baking Doughnuts Instead of Frying Them

Doughnuts are a tasty treat.  Unfortunately we are concerned about calories.  While we cannot reduce calories down to zero, however there is the tasty solution which I discovered.  I had discovered that J.Co Donuts bakes their doughnuts instead of frying them which provides a different taste.  I know fried doughnuts can be tasty but they can also be greasy (I use vegetable oil though) but still, when fat even from unsaturated ones still contribute to the calorie buildup.  The baked doughnuts do have this certain taste of baked bread in another way which I would really say would be like why I ended up broiling certain pork-based dishes.  Baking really reduces the use of oil and cholesterol... which can be good since doughnuts do require some vegetable oil and butter in the making process.  In fact, these come out to be pretty better than I had expected.  Also at the same time, it really become a more guilt-free treat than the usual routine of frie...

Broiling What Should Have Been Fried Foods... My Choice!

I remembered in the past there was the use of frying. Yup, it wasn't getting any better that what was fried was already greasy since it was meat. However trying the broiler, it worked wonders. In fact, it got rid of a lot of oil while making the meat more delicious at the same time. It really worked more wonders than frying meat. In fact, the flavor is kept while a lot of oil is gone at the same time. Now here's some that can be broiled instead of fried... Crispy pata Yup this starts to taste better when you broil it rather than fry it. In fact, the skin gets crispy without having to use the excess oil plus there is less risk that the meat will every dry up but not that it can't dry up if you overcook it. For one, the natural juices are kept more intact. Chicharon bulaklak Frying can make this more greasy than it already is. However with broiling, my experience is that the pork intestines manage to preserve some flavor while a lot of oil drip underneath the grill ...

Funny "Legumes" is a Term for Stupidity Yet It's Also Associated for "Brain Food"

The whole funny fact I have considered is this- legumes can be a term associated with stupidity like the term "pea brain" and "peanut brain" to which Beauty and the Beast from Disney had its villain Gaston named as Gaston LeGume to specify he is kind of stupid.  Now moving on, for the scientific facts... There are top ten brain power foods and we happen to realize legumes is part of them!  What we don't realize is that while legumes don't make geniuses out of everyone but it does keep brains healthy aside from Vitamin B complex and fish oils.

The Guilty Pleasure of Doughnuts

It just came into my head one of the most fattening foods ever are doughnuts.  Though the body needs fat, doughnuts are very high in fat because of the reason they are deep fried.  Made me think as much as I like doughnuts, I do have to discipline myself from eating them except during special occasions or gatherings then it's time to hit a hard walk or the gym to burn all those calories.  Yup as much as I love them especially from Krispy Kreme, sigh they are so fattening.  But again, there are always delicious foods that are healthy too like fresh fruits and vegetables.  For them, I'll have to use them sparingly like when I need some extra fat for the cold or for special occasions while avoiding them during regular days.

Reasons Why You Should Try Vegetarian Dishes

It's typical to think that people try to have the negative mindset that vegetables taste bad but meat tastes better.  However not for me, I thought about it that vegetarian dishes are a must try.  So why is it a must try? Well here's some very good reasons: Vegetables are high in fiber, vitamins and minerals.  Most people due to excessive meat diet suffer from problems like high levels of bad cholesterol and constipation, vegetables fix that.  In fact, having more vegetables than meat lessens the appetite for excess food fighting overweight problems one way or another.  Having a meatless dish can help reduce cholesterol.  In fact, not adding meat to any of my beans dishes is really one of the best things to happen in my life plus it tastes better. Tofu is a very good meat substitute.  Sure it tastes quite different but I thought this is a good meat replacement for those who suffer Celiac disease because they are gluten intolerant.  If you ar...

Just A Thought: My Shortcomings as a Latebloomer with ADHD

One thing can't be denied that as a good writer, I'm a pretty poor listener.  Problem is that writers and listeners tend to bash each other, look down at each other and belittle each other like toddlers do and sadly adults do it as well.  In my case, I am suffering from my rather short attention span, impulsiveness and impatience which really is a torture for me than a blessing.  In fact, I only think of what to write next than anything else which I usually wish I were more "normal".  It's like this I can write well due to my hyperactive imagination while listeners are more interested in listening and just writing what other people say and do making them get better grades than those who are writers because they tend to spend more time doodling things up, thinking of the next idea and I really get loathsome with that.  For one, it's my real issue that I'm suffering from late blooming and ADHD which can be evidenced as follows... I was usually more focuse...

The Gluten Debate?

I really was thinking that some things can be overly exaggerated.  Most people don't even think about the reality that gluten can be VERY BAD only if the person was a Celiac disease holder. The fact that they say gluten is toxic, blah, blah, blah even to non-Celiac is most likely a conspiracy. For one thing, vegetarians have had been eating gluten and can still function properly except if they were Celiac disease ridden so they have every reason to get gluten-free products which are part of the special needs. What is really needed to know if you have Celiac disease is whether or not gluten content does cause you to get sudden rash or diarrhea, have it checked and see if you have Celiac disease. It's very important to confirm whether a person has the rare Celiac disease or not. A gluten free diet could be bad because in getting rid of it means getting rid of the nutrients in wheat and whole grain. I am really faced and caught in between the gluten debate whether or not it is ...

Drinking Coconut Juice

Well it's time for some food articles and I'd probably talk about coconut juice.  So what's the deal with coconut juice?  For me it's a refreshing treat but I had not been aware of its benefits until later.  Coconut juice in itself is low in fat, rich in vitamins, high potassium levels twice to that of banana.  It can also help lose weight and it's good for diabetics to keep their sugar level under control since the condition is incurable.  What is also nice is that it has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties to which can help sick people and also the prevention of kidney stones thanks to magnesium.  It's even more pleasant to learn it's an anti-cancer agent due to cytokin and selenium and also helps prevent premature aging, it helps people age gracefully (no not remain forever young and live long) and can lower blood pressure.  So what are you all waiting for?  Drink now!

Pretty Much a "Nerve-Wrecked" Day The Other Day...

Okay it's kinda funny I'm using this.  Well I dunno what Fantasy Leader will use... he might use Ryoma?  Moving on, it was pretty much nerve-wrecking that I really woke up on the wrong side of the bed, couldn't do the tasks I'm assigned to do properly and had to make an extra effort. Well here's been some kind of my "combat solution"... Getting some ice cold mint tea, listening to the flow of water and some classical music managed to help me recover from that nerve wreck.  I took some pain relievers and drank some herbal soup to help me out. Coffee would be nice if I were dating a Rin Takanashi-look alike! =P

What We Don't Realize, We're Enjoying a Lot Thanks to ADHD People!

It does get to me that I have my ADHD which can be evidenced by my following flaws that exist... 1.) Can get excessively talkative 2.) Sudden change of behavior like becoming surprisingly rude 3.) Pretty much a slacker in high school who however manages to survive failing a year level 4.) Easily loses one's temper and patience like Galvatron or Serpentor but to a lesser extent 4.) I can be very forgetful, disorganized and daydreaming because new ideas keep coming in. My talents: 1.) Writing- That's why I blog.  I used to be a member of a writing guild before but when my student days ended, I was soon out.  Yet again, I'm asked to write. 2.) Photoshop- I normally don't know how to draw much or to paint much but I can arrange pictures of others in such a way in Photoshop. 3.) Directing art- While I may not be good with video editing or programming, however I do get consulted sometimes to help them with the directions they need. People who think they are ...

Fresh Tomato Sauce and Lycopene

I am just delighted to think about the fact that I love fresh tomato sauce, now it can be homemade by blending a few tomatoes, adding some garlic and onions to flavor it, or perhaps basil can be added.  So I just thought that it actually is a rich antioxidant substance that can be extracted by heating tomatoes.  This substance is called lycopene a cancer fighting agent.  So I just thought that this is also a delicious way to help cancer patients cope up with treatment and lessen their pain as well.

Just Some Thought on Graviola

I was thinking that one of my favorites, graviola, has greatly helped me in removing toxics, preventing sickness and helping boost my immune system.  However I have started to read that it can actually help fight cancer.  Is it true?  Hmmmm... I just need to have reliable studies on whether or not it is true.  If it's true then it's a delicious way to fight disease.  However everything in moderation, not in excess.
