In the world of fiction, there is such a thing as the expy writing. So an expy is defined by TV tropes as "exported character" and "a character from one series who is unambiguously and deliberately based on a character in another, older series. A few minor traits — such as age and name — may change, but there's no doubt that they are almost one and the same. Often seen in different works by the same writer(s) or production team." Now for some expy writing on characters...

Take for instance characters from Gatchaman and Jetman. Jetman basically has a lot of Gatchaman expy in it like Sylvie Pandora was somewhat used to create Aya Odagiri. While Egobossler is mostly careful with his schemes and doesn't easily get mad, Radiguet is basically what happens when you get Egobossler, throw him into a puddle of crack, pull him out and you get freaking insane Radiguet.

Power Rangers doesn't always make their characters equal from their licensed counterparts. For example, Trini could be considered an expy of Mika from Bioman as the first PR yellow ranger, hesitant to fight and a skilled martial artist though she doesn't try to run away from her team, though she's pretty independent minded.

In "The Secret of the Hunchback", apparently Jehan Frollo the wicked brother of the Archdeacon Claude Frollo, is obviously based on Gaston and Esmeralda isn't Esmeralda, she's Belle.

Even Toei in itself tends to make expy characters in its own company like the use of the catwomen (Farrah Cat, Fuumin, Ley Nefel, Zaza and Shizuka) and so much more. Well I'll just put Bilgenia and Ouja as an example above. Ouja is sort of an expy to Bilgenia- take Bilgenia, give him Kamen Rider powers and you get Ouja!

Apparently Skeletor is an expy of the Kull's archenemy, Thulsa Doom.

The movie Thulsa Doom and Wrath-Amon are both expys of the Conan villain Thoth-Amon who while in the novels was just an extra (Conan had no specific archenemy in the novels), he certainly was made into an ascended extra. In the Conan movie, the movie Thulsa Doom was an expy of Thoth-Amon. Wrath-Amon in the Conan cartoon (and also Ram-Amon) are both based on Thoth-Amon though Wrath-Amon can also be considered a Serpentor expy due to the suit design and personality.
