Use of Insanity in Fiction Writing

There are also the issues of insanity as it hits people.  Not everybody's insane permanently but some do show constant signs of mental breakdown.  Now let's analyze these types of insanity both heroes, allies and villains:

Rape victims can suffer from certain degrees of insanity from temporal to permanent.  Depends on the degree of rape.  In my fic Super Sentai vs. Power Rangers, Kimberly becomes a victim of insanity after Radiguet raped her behind closed doors, not really detailed but it did happen.  She recovered though but not without a desire to kill Radiguet herself.  My reason for writing the fic?  It's a guilty pleasure of my tendency.

The villains with noble intentions tend to become insane when their noble intentions are not met like Poison Ivy's moments of insanity.

Self-righteous villains will go crazy when they desire something that goes against their convictions.  Talk about Frollo's actions in Hunchback of Notre Dame that he does a lot of stuff he believes shouldn't be done even going against his office of celibacy just to get Esmeralda.

Villains who go insane explained or unexplained.  For example, Galvatron though he starts off as a competent leader while he was Megatron and in the movie, however post-movie Galvatron became some kind of a joke (and a real hazard to people around him) after he fell into a plasma ooze in Thrull damaging his logic circuits making him literally the craziest Decepticon leader who would blow anyone up every time he loses his temper.  His insanity was so great even the Planet Torkulon's sentient core couldn't handle it in fact, the whole planet collapsed thanks to his utter insanity then he later murdered it just for fun.  Even Cyclonus and Scourge later betrayed him in Headmasters in favor for the more sane Scorponok.

Villains who are insane to start with.  Radiguet is pretty much a power hungry megalomaniac who's insane to start with, grows more insane as the series progresses.  He lacks the subtlety of his Gatchaman counterpart Egobossler with how he does most of his plans.  They do get crazier the more powerful they become.

People can go crazy hero or villain when they discovered they have just been used and manipulated or lied to.
