As a Tokusatsu fan, I would admit that I tend to be die hard most of the time. Now I'd like to write why I tend to get Toku adaptation phobia. Here are the reasons:
Useless characters tend to appear. I did enjoy Bulk and Skull as a child but as time went by, I find them an old shame to the point I'd rather watch Black RX (which I still enjoy). Adding characters that don't contribute at all just is a waste of space. But my worst hatred goes to Cassidy and Devin as portrayed above. Plus they overact a lot too. I really hate having useless characters.
I would say characters can be an issue later on like in the Kalish era of Power Rangers. I don't want to start picking fights though I'd really would like to give some of my complains starting with SPD. Some of you like SPD but I do have to say that I prefer Dekaranger over SPD for these reasons. First, Ban may be a screaming red who's very rash but he definitely is not the type to skip courses like Jack. Second, I constantly get annoyed at Sky's he should be the red ranger, which Hoji doesn't have. Third, Bridge is hardly funny for me compared to Sen. Fourth, I should mention SYD really ticks me off too much with her braty attitude. I don't want to talk too much about this either.
The disasters that were Saban's Mashed Rider (it doesn't even deserve the name Masked Rider!), VR Troopers, Beetleborgs and Beetleborgs Metallix are really that bad. And I was thinking that Mashed Rider really ended up influencing a flux of bad Kamen Rider seasons which are however still better, though I'd dare say that I'd rather watch the trashy work that is Mashed Rider Decade or the Super Hero Taisen film than the other piece of trash Saban's writers created then again, most of the time Saban's Mashed Rider goes into the trash bin the same time as Decade.
Maybe I should mention I prefer the seriousness, silliness and execution of Super Sentai over Power Rangers. Well TV-Y7-FV censorship for TV in America really manages to break down better stories for Power Rangers like darker stories and events tend to be banned. But overall, I still can dare say there are good seasons of Power Rangers but I still prefer Super Sentai overall. Just that, for me Power Rangers tends to waste a lot of potential.
Overall, I'm not an unfair hater of adaptations but this is just me sharing my opinion.
