Eventually Pinoy Artists WILL Be Destroyed if Section 190 of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293 Gets Removed!
I was thinking that with the Filipino Congress being THAT STUUUUPID to propose the removal of Section 190 of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293 which allows Filipinos to bring home CDs, DVDs, books, etc. from abroad it will definitely HURT the Filipino artists as well. For one, they have to consider that Sarah Geronimo, Christian Bautista, Charice Pepangco, Regine Velasquez are international hits and that means, they have a fanbase ABROAD. Regine Velasquez has had duets with foreign artists like Jacky Cheung and Coco Lee, Charice Pepangco is a hit in America, Lea Salonga though she's no longer a Filipino citizen due to her marrying an American-Chinese is still credited. In fact, with that in mind Filipinos have EVERY RIGHT to be fans of foreign artists too. It's not a one sided parasitic relationship but a mutual relationship between countries. They buy Filipino products, Filipinos buy their products aside from buying their own products.
If Filipinos are barred from ever bringing intellectual property abroad, that would create the image of the Philippines to be a second North Korea, not even Chinese government is that crazy and label Filipinos as snobs and selfish parasites. Why is that? I mean there are die-hard fans of Christian Bautista or ANY successful Filipino artist who can't wait for the next release who may decide to enter the Philippines to BUY the album before it can get imported to their country. Let's say Jackie Chan is a fan of Christian Bautista and he has more free time, so he decides to buy Christian Bautista's latest album but after hearing the snobbish government he'll probably say, "That's plain selfish and screwed up! They want us to buy their products and bring it to our home country and the poor Filipinos can't do the same when they go abroad? WTF?" then that will create a bad impression of foreigners about Filipinos destroying them further and in turn, it will cause competent Filipinos to be unjustly removed. Really, the Philippines really NEEDS a serious cultural revolution. So PNoy better NOT sign that stupid proposal because it's going to destroy trade relations!
