I'm Skeptical About Sony's Plan To End Physical Discs For 2028

It sucks when the gaming community starts to move towards greedy vs. sustainable profit. Here's Angry Joe of the Angry Joe Show -- the very person who I avoided the mediocre Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and chose Mortal Kombat (2011) instead in the 2000s. I'm no doubt I enjoyed the PlayStation saga. I had played across the PS1-PS4 saga. Right now, having been devoted to other hobbies (like BLOGGING is just a HOBBY), I haven't played PS5 games yet. However, reading the news that Sony plans to end physical discs by 2028 has me worried as a casual gamer.

I was thinking the hybrid model worked better. I thought about PlayStation Store downloads for old games. However, I would've preferred the collection discs like the Mega Man X Legacy Collection or the Mega Man Legacy Collection. It's a real bummer (actually) when I think about Angry Joe's rant here. It's sad, really, but it's the reality. Sony probably got intoxicated with its past successes, like:
  • I was told to stop thinking about Nintendo and get a PlayStation instead. So yeah, I probably don't regret not having a Super NES or a Nintendo 64 growing up because the PlayStation was SO MUCH BETTER.
  • Tekken was launched on the first PlayStation -- a game that definitely beat the CR*P out of Virtua Fighter more often than not.
  • Never had a Sega Dreamcast, but the PlayStation 2 was F*CKING EPIC. Well, I was angry that Capcom didn't remaster Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes in its full glory for the PS2, though! Sega ended up making games for Sony instead.
  • By the PlayStation 3 era, there were some exclusives. For example, Mortal Kombat (2011) had epic F*CKING Kratos as a console exclusive.
Basically, Sony defeated Nintendo for a long time. The childhood without a Super NES can easily be "forgiven" becaue the PlayStation was so much better. So yeah, I didn't even think too much about Nitnendo except that I bought the SNES Station bootleg for the PlayStation 2 -- to "heal myself". The bootlegs were common during the first two PlayStations -- but that ended with the PlayStation 3 era.

The real concern Sony should be thinking about is the re-rise of PIRATES. Some people may have remembered buying the pirates of old PlayStation games during the first two consoles. I was thinking that several games like Mortal Kombat (2011) might end up with new pirating. Sure, the Hummer Team may no longer be heard from again. But I wouldn't be surprised if Hummer moved away from 8-bit pirating to actually GAME PRESERVATION.

As said, Sony please reconsider your actions!
